Wednesday 15th- 21st November.
I’ve had a really exciting week this week. I got up to a lot of different things including booking my flights to Australia for Christmas and New Years this year and meeting someone who is almost as funny as me, surprising I know.. but only half as good looking.
Wednesday, I met up with a photographer and shot a couple of photos for a blog post that is coming out soon. We wanted to take some with a cute sunset so we went to Milford/Takapuna, where I went last week, but unfortunately the sunset really wasn’t as good however I still managed to get a couple of nice shots for the blog!
For those of you who know me personally will know that back in the UK I used to train for athletics 6 days a week, it’s been a big part of my life for the past 7 years, so it wasn’t something that I wanted to stop as soon as I arrived in New Zealand, but I wanted to tone it down a little and focus on other things, other than training at the track everyday. I found out that there was a track near where I work, so one night this week I thought I would check it out and see what was around. Whilst I was training I got talking to a coach who originally coached at a club in Essex but now coaches at the AUT, he showed me around the facilities at the club which was so interesting; compared to UK clubs they had much better facilities, and also offered the option for scholarship; it would be an amazing opportunity to start training professionally out here, but it’s a massive commitment, I’d loose so many evenings and weekends to training and competitions, so it’s something that right now I think I’ll leave, but having the option there is amazing. Oh and I also saw some pretty cool sunsets this week too!
If you have been following me on Instagram or Snapchat, you will have probably see that I’ve been on a couple of dates this week, with someone called Brian. I think I’m just going to keep this short and sweet because as I write this, I’ve know him for just over 2 weeks and I could already tell you so much about him. Even the first time I met him and we when out for dinner, I felt like we just bounced off each other and it felt like we knew each other for a while. It was very strange, I’ve never had an instant connection with someone before like this. I think it helps that we have similar personalities and interests, but at the same time we are also very different which is why I think it works. It’s obviously very early days but I am really enjoying spending time with him.
We actually met on Friday and ended up spending all weekend together. Too keen? I’m not sure I agree because it feels so natural? I think it’s something you could sit and over think for a ages as to why it feels so normal to spend so much time together already, but whatever the reason, I am certainly enjoying it! On Saturday night we went out to a Japanese restaurant; this something I didn’t realise about NZ, there are more Chinese and Japanese restaurants compared to English or Italian or even NZ! I don’t think I’ll ever be a fan of raw fish or sushi, but I actually really enjoyed the dinner we had.. I also tried Japanese wine for the first time!- it was very similar to Peach Schnapps. After dinner we went to a chocolate dessert restaurant and shared a dessert- my god it was good!
I hadn’t actually explored the city that much, so Brian took me out for breakfast and then showed me around the city. Considering I have anxiety and normally HATE busy places e.g London , Oxford , Birmingham, I actually really enjoyed being in the city during the day, maybe because the population is so little compared to cities in the UK so it is never extremely busy, even going into the city for dinner doesn’t make me feel on edge which is very strange for me!
I hope you all had a lovely week! I’m hoping that I will get up to some more fun adventures! If you would like to keep updated with my Instagram, you can follow me here.
